Reverse osmosis (RO) is a membrane separation process in which feed water flows along the 0.0001 micron semi-permeable membrane surface under pressure. Purified water permeates the membrane and is accumulated, while concentrated water, containing dissolved and undissolved material that does not flow through the membrane, is discharged as reject. The membrane normally used in industrial applications is the spiral-wound configuration.
This type of membrane has high membrane area per unit volume, which allows greater flow, and increases the membrane life. RO systems effectively remove dissolved salts and microorganisms from drinking water. System capacity depends on the water requirement, total dissolved solids in feed water, operating pressure and the overall recovery of the system.Indwa Reverse Osmosis systems are flexible, reliable, proven and cost effective.
