Demineralization, also known as deionization is the process of removing dissolved minerals from water to make it suitable for industrial purpose. It works on ion exchange principle and usually contains cation exchanger vessel followed by an anion exchanger vessel and mixed bed. The cation exchanger resins exchange Ca ++, Mg++, Na++, ions for H+ ions and the anion exchanger resins exchange HCO3 -, Cl -, SO4 -- ions for OH - ions resulting in the production of salt free water. Mixed beds are necessary to polish and obtain low conductivity and low silica levels in the treated water.

When the alkalinity of water is high, degasser units are employed to reduce the cost of alkali reagent. The ion exchange process purifies the water until all available exchange sites are used, at this point the resin is exhausted and must be regenerated by use of chemicals. The highly purified water produced by demineralization is ideal for a variety of industrial applications in manufacturing products like pharmaceuticals, electronic components, and consumer products.Indwa has complete range of demineralization units which can be suitable to all below mentioned Industrial applications.
